A memory of long ago...I could feel my heart suddenly stop for five agonizing seconds as Aiden’s body hit the wall and slid to the floor. Kedar dropped his hands to his sides with a soft chuckle. I ran across the room, tripping on my feet and dress, blinded by my tears. When I crumpled to the ground by Aiden’s side I whimpered at the sight of his mangled body. Bones where sticking out dangerously from his arms and legs. They were definitely broken. His face looked so peaceful though, like he was sleeping. My fingers quickly found the place where his pulse should have been... but there was nothing. I pushed my fingers harder into his skin, searching, hopinA memory of long ago...

Maxine Blackwell 2.0George, The Black Cat’s bouncer, greeted me at the door. He held the door open for me and gave me a sly grin as I nodded to him and walked inside. Everyone that saw from their spots in the line pouted miserably at my budging. Ignoring them I walked into the club and moved around the growing crowd. The music and stench of alcohol hit me as I walked in. Jessica was nowhere in sight. Probably off somewhere flirting with some stranger. Bright neon strobe lights cast the room half in shadows and half in light making the place look omniscient and mysterious.
